Location: We operate a hybrid schedule, meaning 2-3 days a week in the office based at Thorpe Park, Leeds.

What you’ll be doing?

• Lead the development, maintenance, and review of professional standards across the organisation.
• Own the SOP framework, standards review cycle, professional guidance, and professional standards sign-off process.
• Provide expert interpretation of professional standards and guidance to support consistent decision-making across the business.
• Define professional acceptability criteria for high-risk and complex pharmacy services.
• Ensure standards are clear, practical, and support consistent decision-making by pharmacists, PSPs, operational teams, and service leads.
• Lead professional standards input into new services, service enhancements, digital patient journeys, prescribing workflows, and automated dispensing processes.
• Lead the development and review of professional risk assessments associated with new services, standards changes, and high-risk workflows.
• Ensure appropriate professional controls are identified and implemented to support safe, effective, and compliant service delivery.
• Review incidents, assurance findings, complaints, concerns, and service changes to determine whether SOPs or professional standards require updating.
• Lead and develop the PSP function, ensuring professional support is effective and aligned to business needs.
• Ensure PSP standards support is consistent, risk-based, and aligned with agreed delegated authority frameworks.
• Escalate significant professional risks, statutory matters, high-risk service decisions, and issues requiring senior professional judgement to the Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist and/or Superintendent Pharmacist as appropriate.

Who are we looking for?

• Current GPhC registration as a Pharmacist.
• Significant experience in pharmacy practice, professional standards, clinical governance, or pharmacy operations.
• Strong knowledge of UK pharmacy law, GPhC standards, and NHS and private pharmacy service requirements.
• Experience developing, reviewing, and implementing SOPs, professional frameworks, and standards guidance.
• Proven ability to interpret complex regulatory and professional requirements and translate them into clear operational standards.
• Experience supporting service development, professional risk assessments, and decision-making within complex or high-risk pharmacy environments.
• Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, operational, digital, governance, and service teams.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including leading teams, driving change, and influencing through functional leadership.
• Excellent attention to detail, sound professional judgement, and a commitment to safe, compliant, patient-centred service delivery.
• Ability to balance innovation, operational practicality, and patient safety while providing clear guidance in complex or ambiguous situations.
