Data Analyst - Participant Support Operations & Clinical Operations

We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to join our Analytics team, using data and operational insight to help improve both the participant experience and the journey of biosamples through our study.

You’ll work closely with operational and technical teams to understand performance, investigate complex problems and turn data into practical recommendations. From understanding participant contact volumes and service demand to identifying bottlenecks across biosample logistics, your analysis will help teams make better decisions, improve processes and deliver more efficient and reliable operations.

Despite big improvements in healthcare in our lifetimes, today millions of people in the UK still live in poor health as they get older. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective.

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you’ll partner with teams across Participant Support Operations, Clinical Operations and Analytics to solve operational problems using data and evidence. You’ll develop trusted reporting and metrics, investigate issues across multiple systems and help teams move towards more proactive, data-informed performance management.

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Analyse participant contact volumes, service performance, complaints and backlogs, using forecasting and capacity planning to help teams understand and manage demand.

Identify trends and drivers within participant enquiries and complaints, turning your findings into actionable recommendations to improve participant experience and operational efficiency.

Analyse the end-to-end biosample journey across operational, logistics and laboratory systems, identifying delays, discrepancies, anomalies and quality issues.

Use SQL and exploratory analysis to investigate data across multiple systems, reconstruct operational workflows and identify the root causes of issues.

Develop and maintain operational reporting, performance metrics and monitoring across participant support and biosample operations.

Work with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists and operational teams to improve data quality, traceability and reporting capability.

Translate operational questions into structured analytical approaches and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Help teams move from manual and reactive reporting towards proactive performance management and data-informed decision-making.

You’ll be part of a wider Analytics function made up of analysts, data scientists and data engineers. The team works remotely, coming together in person twice a month for collaboration and co-working, as well as quarterly strategy days focused on planning, problem-solving and longer-term thinking. We also have a regular book club and team demos, which give us space to learn together and celebrate what we’re building.

Hiring Process

We feel hiring should be transparent and give you a real sense for what Our Future Health is like. Here's what you can expect:

• Initial chat with our Talent team (30 min) to get to know each other, discuss the role, and answer any questions you have.
• 1st interview with our Analytics Manager (25 min) - this is an opportunity to meet your potential line manager and for you both to align on role expectations.
• Technical interview with 2-3 members from our Analytics team (60 min). This will include a short task you’ll need to prepare in advance of the interview and is designed to get a sense for how you'd approach the real-world responsibilities of this role.
• Final stage competency interview (60 min) with a small cross-functional panel of your potential new stakeholders. This will focus on how you collaborate, work with stakeholders, and navigate ambiguity and challenges in real-world projects.

Requirements

We recognise that candidates may have developed relevant experience through different career paths and welcome applications from those who can demonstrate many, though not necessarily all, of the skills and experience listed below:

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
• Experience analysing complex operational data from multiple systems and investigating data quality issues, discrepancies and operational risks.
• Experience developing and maintaining reporting, dashboards, datasets or other analytical products used by operational teams.
• An understanding of operational performance analysis, which could have been developed within areas such as healthcare, logistics, customer operations, participant services, research or another complex operational environment.
• Familiarity with data modelling concepts and experience collaborating with Analytics Engineering or Data Engineering teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate root causes and turn analysis into practical recommendations.
• The ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly and build effective relationships with both operational and technical stakeholders.
• An organised and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to data quality.
• Knowledge of forecasting, capacity planning, performance measurement or operational analytics methodologies would be advantageous.
• An understanding of statistical concepts and performance monitoring techniques, such as variation analysis or statistical process control, would be beneficial.
• Experience using Python or R for data manipulation, analysis, automation or exploratory investigation would also be beneficial.
